The Tale of Player Two (England)--Part I: Hut Luck

I always love it when a starting position doesn't cry "Settle HERE" OK, let's take a look and get some more information before deciding. The worker moves to the bonusgrass SE of the start. The scout moves two tiles NW, spotting a cow. That's good enough for me. London is founded on the staring spot, and dyes are spotted just outside the city, as well as game in the second ring. No fresh water in sight. Production set to scout.

My scout continues moving northwest, and in 3900 BC, we get one of the luckiest results possible--a second city!!

OK, well it isn't in the best spot in the world, but a second city is still wunderbar. Just one turn later, another hut is spotted, along with silks to the west. This hut gives warrior code. London completes scout in 3750, and starts a granery, The second scout spots 2 more dyes near London. This scout soon spies fresh water spotted to the east. In 3650 BC, my two scouts each spot a hut. The third hut gives maps, which reveal another hut (it also gives maps). The fourth hut gives a warrior. Incense is revealed in soon after. I meet Spain around 3500 BC.

Spain has just the starting tech up on me, and I am 2 turns from it. No deals. I put York to pop a worker when it grows--it is by a fresh water lake, and I will pull London's worker over there to get water to the cow faster. London is doing well with the cow and the game, and will complete the granery before growing to size 3. British scientists discover ceremonial burial in 3400 BC,and set their sights on the Wheel. Yet another hut is spotted south of Madrid.

London completes its granery in 3050 BC, and produces the first British settler in 2800 BC. The British settler pair spots the game's first yokels enroute to settling. They wait one season to defend against an attack before settling Nottingham in 2590 BC--dispursing a yokel camp. British science continues its march forward with discovery of the wheel in 2670 BC--writing is next. The homeless yokels by Nottingham go on a rampage--one dies, but the second kills a British warrior makes off with 18 pieces of gold. He shares the secrets of Nottingham's generousity with his friends, because the city is ransacked again for 13g in 2430 BC. Hastings is founded in 2390 to lay claim to the silks. Here is a very of the British settlements.

The first trading deal with the Spanish (2230 BC): the wheel for writing and all but 3 pieces of Isabella's 35 piece gold treasury. Our diplomats thank the British scientists upon their return from the bargaining table--seems all their hard work put into researching writing tipped the scales in our favour. The third setttler from London founds Canterbury in 1910 BC to claim the horses south of of the city.
